Research and practitioners today express concern that culturally and linguistically diverse students are disproportionately represented in special education. This paper discusses some of the current challenges in special education for culturally and linguistically diverse students, taking place within the larger context of increasing minority enrollment. In schools across the United States, the percentage of students in diverse cultures is growing.
