Brooks Bowden is an Assistant Professor of Methods and Policy at North Carolina State University & Associate Director/Director of Training at the Center for Benefit-Cost Studies of Education, Teachers College, Columbia University. Professor Bowden's research is two pronged. First, her work focuses on methods of economic evaluation, with a specific focus on designing cost research for field trials. The second area is applying those methods to examine programs and practices employed by schools to improve learning and life outcomes of students from impoverished backgrounds. More specifically, this work includes school-based support services and curricula that address student needs comprehensively by involving parents and the community, integrating teaching and additional support, identifying student needs and providing support to address them. Professor Bowden's work was recently published in the Journal of Research on Educational Effectiveness and American Journal of Evaluation. She also co-authored the new textbook, Economic Evaluation in Education: Cost-Effectiveness and Benefit-Cost Analysis, 3rd Edition.
