NY: School tries "grounding" students to improve performance

Cheektowaga Central Middle School in suburban Buffalo is taking a tough-love approach to improving student performance and discipline by barring students from all after-hours activities for poor grades or discipline.  School officials adopted the plan to improve student discipline and to encourage students to be responsible for their actions.  Critics say that the plan is too harsh and may provide disincentives for students to attend school
