Plan would cut funds to charter schools

Plan would cut funds to charter schools

Colorado Springs Gazette  April 14, 2008

The Colorado House Education Committee is proposing an amendment that would change the per pupil funding formula for charter schools. Currently, the per pupil expenditure is based on the number of at-risk students served in the district, with the funds evenly divided among schools. Under this proposal, charters would only receive the additional at-risk funding for the number of students on free and reduced lunch at that school. The change is meant to address the lower numbers of students on free and reduced lunch at charter schools.
