Bill seeks more scrutiny of private universities

The senate appropriations committee will consider a bill today that would give the Colorado Commission on Higher Education greater discrimination in approving applications for new private universities in Colorado. The recent acceptance of the American University for the Humanities, which is an online school that was closed in Hawaii for selling degrees without accreditation, prompted the tightening of state policy in this area.
