Ed reform debate seesaws between ACT, new standard

Senate Bill 212, the state's major educational reform bill, is being debated again. As originally proposed, the bill offered more latitude in curriculum and testing in order to meet student needs. The Senate has revised the bill to mandate the ACT college entrance exam as the guide for standards and curriculum. The House Education Committee will vote on the original bill today, and if passed by the full House, legislation will need to align the different versions of the bill being approved.
