MS: Discipline problems rise among students displaced by Katrina

School discipline rates escalate after Katrina

A study by the University of Southern Mississippi shows that discipline rates, as measured by suspensions and expulsions, have risen among student displaced by Katrina.  After an initial drop in discipline shortly after the hurricane, discipline problems have been rising among the estimated 40,000 to 50,000 displaced students.  However, there does not appear to be a gap in learning between displaced and non-displaced students.
