CA: Poll shows differing attitudes toward school taxes

Californians divided over new taxes for schools, poll finds

A statewide telephone survey of over 2,500 Californians conducted by the Public Policy Institute of California showed divisions of opinions concerning schools and taxes to fund schools.  Black respondents showed the greatest concern over the quality of schools.  Latinos were the most likely to support higher taxes on themselves to fund education and were most likely to view education as a springboard to college.  Overall, education was viewed as the second largest problem in the state behind the economy.
