Field trips fall prey to budget cuts, testing
Schools can't spare time or dimes for field trips

Many districts are cutting back on field trips citing the need to eliminate expenses from pinched school budgets and the need to devote time to subjects and activities that the school will be held accountable for through testing. In response, many schools rely on parent fundraising to underwrite field trips and on grants from foundations and will not permit field trips without an clear connection to school curriculum.
