Some D-11 students will have a longer school day

Five elementary schools in Colorado Springs District 11 extended their school day by 60 minutes last year in an effort to increase achievement and English language aptitude. While gains resulted, the difficulty in planning for an extra hour of instructional time has led the district to reduce the extended time to 30 minutes per day for the coming school year. The affected schools all have high populations of students on free or reduced lunch.
