DC: Use of closed schools creates controversy

Two closed schools go to charters

Two schools in Washington, DC that were closed for low performance are being leased to charters for the upcoming school year with five others being used to provide space for other public services, including a police station and a Department of Motor Vehicles center. Charter school advocates are considering a lawsuit because they claim that the law requires charters to be offered the use of the buildings first.
