TX: State Board approves elective Bible classes
Texas board OKs elective Bible classes in high schools
USA Today July 19, 2008
The Texas Board of Education approved a rule establishing Bible classes in public high schools. The rule adopted by the board sets general guidelines for such courses. Critics argue that the rule is too vague and does not ensure that the Establishment Clause is honored. The rule was passed in response to a law passed in 2007 that allowed courses on the Bible to be offered as electives.
