DC: Entry into plan with higher pay requires all teachers to go on probation

Pay-hike plan for teachers in DC entails probation

A pay plan being promoted by DC School Chancellor Michelle Rhee would require all teachers interested in receiving the highest pay increases to spend one year on probation.  The plan would give teachers with 5 years experience the chance to earn over $100,000, but also would require teachers in the plan to relinquish seniority and meet goals for student achievement.  Further details of the plan are being negotiated.
