IL: New pilot funding program ties funding to performance
Meeks has new school pilot project

A Democractic state senator, James Meeks, and a former Republic gubernatorial candidate, Ron Gidwitz, proposed a pilot project that will provide better funding and more resources for low-performing schools. The proposal establishes four clusters of schools that will examine curriculum, discipline, student progress and grading policies. The plan is important as it may provide groundwork for an overhaul of school funding in 2010.
