CO: House bill to support parent involvement in schools

Parent time off bill divisive

Rocky Mountain News  January 23, 2009

House Bill 1057 would require employers with at least 10 employees to give each up to 6 hours per month in 3 hour increments to visit their childrens' teachers. Business groups opposed the measure, citing the difficulty this would pose to small businesses. Parent and school advocates countered with the importance of parent involvement in making the difference in the academic success of students.
