Nicholas Meier

Brandman University

Nicholas Meier currently is an adjunct lecturer with Brandman University (of Chapman). Previously he was a Professor of education at California State University, Monterey Bay and a  lecturer at San Jose State University. Before working as a professor of teacher education, Nicholas spent 14 years as an elementary teacher working with predominantly minority students in bilingual settings in Hollister, Oakland, Salinas, and San Jose, California. During his classroom tenure he managed to teach all the elementary grades except kindergarten at one time or another. For three of those years he worked as a resource teacher supporting teachers in the development of a district-wide bilingual program.

Nicholas received his PhD. (2006) from Stanford University, his Masters in Teacher Leadership (1998) at San Jose State University, and his B.A. in Psychology (1984) and Teaching Credential (1985) from the University of California at Santa Cruz.  His present research interests and work include: Preparing teachers to work with English language learners; progressive education; technology and educational equity; teacher collaboration, and teacher professional community.
