Teacher and Classroom Resources That Focus on Equity and Diversity

Often it's hard to find practical suggestions and materials for classroom lessons that address equity and racial diversity. I'd like to recommend two resources.

Teaching Tolerance, a project of the Southern Poverty Law Center, offers a magazine and website with professional development tools, classroom activities, and teaching kits. These are useful whether you're a classroom teacher or work with youth in other capacities. Many, if not all, materials are available free to educators.

The second resource is another magazine website combo, called Rethinking Schools. It includes stories and suggestions from teachers as well as resources connected to Howard Zinn's Education Project.
