IL: Chicago considering public boarding schools

Chicago Public Schools is pursuing the idea of opening public boarding schools to serve homeless children and children from troubled homes.  The first pilot program could open as early as 2009.  The district is seeking for proposals for such schools, although the details of whether the schools would be operated by the district, an outside agency or a combination of the two has not yet been decided.
