AP and IB pushing out honors courses

More high schools are eliminating honors courses while increasing the options for students to take Advanced Placement courses and International Baccalaureate studies. Districts reducing honors options say that in some cases there was too much overlap in the courses and that the more rigorious AP and IB courses were better choices for students than honors classes. Those opposed to the reduction in honors courses say that there should be options for those who do not want college-level classes but still wish to go deeper into a subject than a course from the regular curriculum allows.
