MD: Education panel proposes longer day for middle schoolers

The Maryland Middle School Steering Committee released its recommendations for improving middle schools in Maryland. The group recommended a longer school day, foreign language and fine arts instruction, increasing teacher collaboration time and giving students greater practical experience with science and math. The group did not provide an estimate for how much the recommendations would cost to implement.
