Universal preschool found effective in large-scale study

Universal preschool students perform better

In a large-scale study of over 3,500 preschoolers in a universal preschool program in Tulsa, Oklahoma, researchers from Georgetown University found that students enrolled in the state's universal preschool program performed better in reading, writing and math than those who had not enrolled in preschool or who had participated in the Head Start program.  The success may be attributable to low student-teacher ratios and extensive teacher training.  The study is published in Science.
