Homework for DPS, union

The mediator for the Denver Public Schools (DPS) and Denver's teachers' union contract disputes has asked both sides to clarify their positions on the issues before mediation takes place August 20-22. DPS is proposing to increase average base pay by 7.7% and change the bonus structure such that the average teacher's pay would increase by a total of 19%. The union is asking for a blanket 3.5% increase in pay as well as bonus incentives, so that all teachers would be protected.
