CO: Denver's teachers approve performance pay system

Teachers pact in national limelight

Teachers in the Denver Public Schools approved a new contract that shifts the district's pay system towards performance pay.  The Professional Compensation Plan for Teachers, or ProComp, increases bonuses for teachers working in hard-to-serve schools, and increases pay for teachers whose students show academic growth or whose school earns a "distinguished" rating. Of 1,877 teachers who voted, 77.5 % voted in support of the new contract.
