Chicago school boycott set to roll
Chicago Tribune September 2, 2008
Hundreds of Chicago students plan to skip their first day of school on Tuesday in an attempt to draw attention to Illinois' unequal funding system for public schools. The state uses property tax revenue to support public schools, which leads to a disparity between the wealthy and poor school districts. This school boycott was organized by State Sen. James Meeks.
