CO: Districts use newcomer programs to serve non-English speakers
Teachers challenged in multilingual classrooms
The Denver Post October 27,2008
School districts in the Denver-metro area serve students with over 125 different native languages. To do this, some have created newcomer programs and many classrooms use theater and other creative approaches to teaching English. After one year, their English language-learning students are required to take the Colorado State Assesment Program (CSAP) test.
