CO: Bill proposes in-state tuition for undocumented students
Lawmaker seeks in-state tuition for immigrants
The Denver Post February 2, 2009
Senator Chris Romer is proposing a bill that would allow undocumented students to receive in-state tuition, a difference between about $2,340 and $7,040 per year. His reasoning is that students "should not be punished for the decisions of adults," and that incentives for students to graduate from high school and complete college are good for the state's economy. Opponents warn that this could put the state in conflict with federal immigration law.
