VA: Study halls offer enrichment during school day

Schools see flex time as valuable exercise

Schools in Northern Virginia have incorporated "flex time" into the school day.  Between regular courses, students are assigned to a flex classroom to
review material or work independently, attend schoolwide events, or get a pass to visit a
teacher for extra help.  Flex time is being used as a strategy to reduce after-school tutoring costs and to raise achievement in the era of the federal No Child Left Behind law.
