CO: Save money by reducing testing?

The Joint Budget Committee reviewed the financial costs of CSAP (Colorado State Assessment Program) and considered the consequences of suspending the tests for one year. The tests costs around $20 million per year to administer, of which approximately $16 million is paid for by the state and $4 million with federal funds.  Suspending or reducing the amount of testing is unpopular with the Department of Education and the Governor and could possibly jeopardize Title I and economic stimulus package funding.
