Education Week March 12, 2009
Up to $32 billion, of the the approximately $100 billion, allocated for education in the economic stimulus package will be distributed to states within two weeks of a state’s submission of its application. The goal is to have states comply with the assurances required under the American
Recovery and Reinvestment Act and take steps to increase teacher
quality, build better data systems, improve standards and assessments,
and turn around failing schools.
