CO: Charter applications on rise
New-school applications flood DPS

The Denver Public Schools accept applications for charters on a "request for proposal" (RFP) basis that district officials say helps the district accomodate families in the district and keep families who might choose to send their kids elsewhere. This year, more than 17 applications were filed, including proposals for an all-girls academy, chinese, spanish language programs and a "green" school that focuses on sustainability and service-learning.
