CO: School finance act targets at-risk students

School finance bill bulks up

The Senate Education Committee added more than 30 amendments to the school finance act, many of which focus on addressing the needs of at-risk students.  Examples of provisions in the bill include the distribution of incentive money to "Centers of Excellence," or schools that have more than 40% of their student body identitfied as "at-risk," and charter schools would be allocated money for the actual number of at-risk students rather than based on a district-wide percentage.
