EdWeek warns "Advocates Worry ESEA Rewrite May Weaken Law"

A recent EdWeek article (here) outlines fears from many prominent civil rights, business, and education advocates that the new reauthorization of ESEA may weaken accountability provisions for racial minorities and other historically underrepresented student subgroups (i.e. students with disabilities, English Language Learners, and low-income students). The Obama administration claims that the proposed changes in their blueprint advocate for "a more holistic system of accountability that includes rewards for schools and districts that are closing achievement gaps between the subgroup students and their peers."
