Rick Mintrop

Rick Mintrop received his PhD from Stanford University in Education and an MA from Freie Universität, Berlin, in Political Science and German Studies. He is the faculty director of the doctoral program in Leadership for Educational Equity at UC Berkeley. His recent work is divided between research on teacher work motivation, incentives, and accountability, and a conception of design-based school improvement. Relevant to these topics, he has published two books Schools on Probation (2004) and Design-based School Improvement (2016) and numerous articles. He is currently the principal investigator of a school improvement study funded by the Chilean Ministry of Education and of a research-practice partnership with a local school district in Northern California funded by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.
