Michele S. Moses
Michele S. Moses is Professor of Educational Foundations, Policy and Practice and Associate Dean for Graduate Studies in the School of Education at the University of Colorado Boulder. She specializes in philosophy and education policy studies, with particular expertise in policy disagreements related to race, ethnicity, class, gender, moral and political values, and equality of educational opportunity. Her scholarship has appeared in journals such as American Educational Research Journal, Educational Researcher, Harvard Educational Review, and Journal of Social Philosophy, as well as The Conversation and Inside Higher Ed. In addition, Dr. Moses has published three books: Embracing Race: Why We Need Race-Conscious Education Policy, Affirmative Action matters: Creating Opportunities for Students around the World, and most recently, Living with Moral Disagreement: The Enduring Controversy about Affirmative Action. Her current research is aimed at gaining a deeper understanding of the equity implications of moral and political debates over affirmative action in higher education and opting out of public education. Dr. Moses has been a National Academy of Education/Spencer Postdoctoral Fellow, a Fulbright New Century Scholar, and recently was named an AERA Fellow by the American Educational Research Association.
